Soldier Hollow SuperTour Races

The races at Soldier Hollow went well for the two MSU skiers that participated in the races. On the first day there was a 1.3 kilometer classic sprint. There was a good turnout of competitors, and both the men and women had strong fields. Ryan Scott and Anders Folleraas were fast in the qualifying rounds coming in at 9th and 13th place respectively. In the quarterfinals Anders had a speedy start only to break a pole within the first 400 meters. This bad luck dropped him to the end of the pack and left no room to recover. Ryan managed to qualify through the quarterfinal and semifinal heats, and made it to the A final heat. In this heat Ryan had a quick start but got tripped up with another skier on a short steep hill on the course, ending up in 6th place overall.

On Sunday, there was a 15 kilometer skate race that looped a 5 kilometer course. Anders did not have a very good start position, but made his way through the pack and got up with the top guys. He stayed strong throughout the race and finished as the top collegiate athlete in 18th place.

Here is video footage of the Final B & A heats in the men's sprint race along with photos from the weekend:
